John 4:35

“Open up your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for

People are ready to hear and respond to the Good News of Jesus.

People are still hungry for

news.

Faith stories usually involve

people.

Context of Mark 2

  1. People following Jesus had increased
  2. People wanted to be around Him
  3. People brought those who were sick to Him
  4. Jesus is in a town called Capernaum

Mark 2:1-4

A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such

numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.

Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by

of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.

Mark 2:5-8

When Jesus saw

faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things?”

Mark 2:9-12

“Which is

: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”

So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”

He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This

everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Four friends were willing to do

was necessary to get their friend to Jesus!

It took a lot of

to bring their friend to Jesus.

This was a little weird…

To reach people today, we must be creative, tenacious, scrappy, and innovative!

Ask God to break your

for those without Christ.

Four friends were determined to do everything they could to get their friend to Jesus!

God can use

to bring your friends to Jesus!

Apply It:

  1. Do you love people who don’t know Christ?
  2. What are you personally doing to reach the lost?
  3. Who are you praying for to know Christ?
