12/18/2022: SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM WEEK 27
December 18, 2022

HIS KINGDOM CAME

8  Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
10  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
11  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14  “ Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” —Luke 2:8 - 14

HIS KINGDOM CAME TO BRING THE GIFT OF “AVAILABLE” PEACE

1. His Kingdom came to give promised peace.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

2  “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”
3  Therefore He shall give them up, until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; then the remnant of His brethren shall return to the children of Israel.
4  And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God; and they shall abide, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth;
5  And this One shall be peace. —Micah 5:2 - 5a

And he will be the source of peace. —Micah 5:5a (NLT)

4  But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
5  to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. —Galatians 4:4 - 5

2. His Kingdom came to give mighty peace.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. —John 16:33

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. —Isaiah 59:19

3. His Kingdom came to give peace on earth (that’s us).

“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” —Luke 2:14

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. —Hebrews 4:1

There remains therefore a rest
for the people of God. —Hebrews 4:9

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. —John 14:27

18  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19  To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” —Luke 4:18 - 19

4. His Kingdom came as an “offering” of everlasting peace…that can start today.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

1-4  But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
1-4  When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end - Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.
5-7  “So don’t be afraid: I’m with you. I’ll round up all your scattered children, pull them in from east and west. I’ll send orders north and south: ‘Send them back. Return my sons from distant lands, my daughters from faraway places. I want them back, every last one who bears my name, every man, woman, and child Whom I created for my glory, yes, personally formed and made each one.’” —Isaiah 43:1 - 7 (MSG)

28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28 - 30
