The Jesus life is possible. You and I really can think, talk, act, love and live more like Jesus. And this is because Jesus asked us to follow Him. When we truly follow Jesus, we will become more and more like Him.
How much do you really want to be like Jesus?
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others. —Mark 10:45 (NLT)
What does this passage tell us about Jesus?
If Jesus came to serve others then we should too. But let’s be honest… it is not easy to serve others when our focus is on ourselves all the time.
After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples, “What were you discussing out on the road?” 34 But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. 35 He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” —Mark 9:33-35 (NLT)
Why do you think the disciples were concerned about being the greatest?
In what ways are we still concerned with being a greatest?
Jesus shows a different way.
Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end. 2 It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. 4 So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him. —John 13:1-5 (NLT)
