Life Group Questions
Key Verses: Matthew 28:18-20
Opening Question: On July 20th, 1969, Neil Armstrong took the first steps by any human on the moon. If you were alive during that time, and remember, share your thoughts and/or experiences of that day with the group.
1. Read Matthew 28:18
a. Jesus declares that “all authority” in heaven and earth has been given to Him. Discuss the significance of this statement.
2. Read Matthew 28:19
a. The word “Go” can more accurately be translated as “as you are going” and is not a command; Jesus presumes that His hearers will always be going. Why does this distinction matter to the believer?
b. “Make disciples” is the actual command given by Jesus; each believer is to be making followers of Jesus. So how can we do this?
c. Have you had the privilege of leading someone to Christ? Share with the group one of the stories. If you have not had the privilege, what hindrances have you faced in this area?
3. Read Matthew 28:20
a. We are instructed, by Jesus, to “teach” these disciples to observe all that Christ has commanded. How is this different than just teaching the commands?
Application:
• What practical ways can you activate or live out what you have learned about your Christian faith this week?
