WALK IN WISDOM

Ephesians 5:15-21

“You have been part of every bad decision you have ever made.”

Our foolish walk leads to bad decisions and regrets. Some of those are humorous in hindsight, others may have set the course of our life on a trajectory that we are still recovering from.
Take heart - Jesus has the power to heal and restore!

Ephesians 5:15

Walk - the daily, ongoing, active lifestyle of the Christ-follower

Wisdom - the application of knowledge

“Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.” - Charles Spurgeon

DECISION MAKING QUESTIONS:

We ask
• is it legal
• is it ethical
• is it moral

Paul asks
• is it wise
• is it in line with God’s will
• is it in step with the Holy Spirit’s leading

ASK A BETTER QUESTION:
WHAT IS THE WISE THING TO DO?

• James 3:13-18
• Proverbs 2:6
• Proverbs 3:19
• Proverbs 8
• Proverbs 9:10

DECISION MAKING GRID:
(Andy Stanley)
• In light of my past experiences
• In light of my present circumstances
• In light of my future hopes and dreams

CONSIDER:
• Don’t ask: How close to the line can I get?
• Don’t be careless! The morality and spirituality of our day is not neutral. The world is a current that will drag you away.
• Realize what good decisions produce and what bad decisions cost.
• Realize that you rarely have to rationalize good decisions.

What happens when we do life (finances, sex, relationship, work, marriage) the way our society does?
