To

into your salvation:

Be like a

: devour the word.

Be like a : rest on the foundation of Jesus.

Be like a : embrace your new identity.

WHEN WE FAIL TO GRASP THE HOPE OF JESUS, WE GRASP FOR HOPE THAT FAILS.

NEXT WEEK: Hope for Exiles: A Study of 1 Peter, 1 Peter 2:11-3:7

SMALL GROUP GUIDE

  • Weekly Vision Casting: We believe God designed us for relationship with Him and relationship with each other. At Trinity, Small Group meetings are essential to developing deeper relationships with each other but they aren’t intended to be the “be all and end all” for relationships. How else can we build deeper relationships with each other or with others in the church?
  • Opening Prayer
  • Small Group Guidelines (if necessary)
  • Warm Up Question
  • Head, Heart, and Hand Questions
  • Personal Prayer Requests
  • SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP: What is your favorite “dad joke”? [1 Peter 2:1-10 gives three analogies for the Christian life: a baby, a rock, and a priest. By the way, what do a baby, a rock, and a priest have in common? :-) ]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
    1. Read 1 Peter 2:1-10. Why does it mean to “grow up into your salvation?”
    2. In what way is the Christian life like being a baby? A rock? A priest?
    3. In what way is Jesus the cornerstone of our faith?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
    4. Have you ever thought of the Christian life being one of resting in Jesus? If not, why not?
    5. Pastor Peter defined your identity as “what you think the most important person in your life thinks about you.” Who are you tempted to have define your identity?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
    6. What steps might you take this week to grow up spiritually?
