Day 8 – Sharing the Gospel Message Effectively

Read: I Thessalonians 2: 13 – 20; I John 5: 11 – 13

Teaching boldly, teaching in love, and teaching through lifestyle – Paul first modeled these Christian characteristics to the Thessalonians; he encouraged them to do the same to continue God’s work of salvation in Thessalonica. Paul was a man on a mission, and he sought results. Paul’s actions underscored a deep, unconditional love that he had for the lost people in Thessalonica.

The ultimate reward for Paul’s ministry was not money, prestige, or fame, but new believers whose lives had been changed by God through the preaching of the gospel. This was why he longed to see them. No matter what ministry God has given to you, your highest reward and greatest desire should be those who come to believe in Christ and are growing in him.

In I Thessalonians 2:7, Paul compares his approach to sharing the gospel with that of a nursing mother. What actions do mothers carry out as they lovingly care for their children? What specific actions and behaviors should we emulate as we attempt to share the gospel with those around us?

In I Thessalonians 2:11 - 12, Paul compares his approach to sharing the gospel with that of a father with his own children. Paul specifically referenced encouragement, comforting, and exhortation (imploring). What actions do fathers carry out as they lovingly care for their children? What specific actions and behaviors should we emulate as we attempt to share the gospel with those around us?

Prayer time: Lord, I offer praise to you for this tremendous message of the gospel. I want you to give me a greater understanding of the gospel and a passion to unselfishly share it with others. Lord, show me where I am weak. Teach me the truth and give me the power of the Holy Spirit in my words and actions.

Final thought: Applying the principles that Paul used (i.e., teaching boldly, teaching in love, and teaching through your lifestyle) will enable you to share the gospel in a way that produces life-changing results in the lives of others.
