Light of the World | John 1:1-5
The emphasis on light in darkness comes from the Christian
belief that the world’s hope comes from outside of itself.
John 1:1-3
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In John 1 we hear echoes of Genesis 1
Jesus, the Word has always been.
Jesus, the Word was with God.
Jesus, the Word is God.
John 1:4-5
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Christmas is a time of giving and receiving gifts.
Some gifts are hard to receive.
