TRUE LOVE DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND YOU.
19 We love because he first loved us. —1 John 4:19
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. —1 Corinthians 13:4-7
PT. 1 TRUE LOVE IS MORE ABOUT ACTIONS THAN FEELINGS.
You have heard it said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? —Matthew 5:43-47

Pt. 2 DON’T FEEL YOUR WAY INTO PRAYING. PRAY YOUR WAY INTO LOVING
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” —John 13:34
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him. —Luke 5:12-13
Pt. 3 LOVE CAN BE EXPRESSED IN WORDS BUT IS EXPERIENCED THROUGH ACTIONS.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us —Romans 5:8
If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another —1 John 4:11
AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS WE ARE GOING TO
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” —John 13:34
