Brain candy:

  1. Paul made visits to Corinth and wrote either or letters to them. We only have two of those letters.

  2. His first visit was around __50 A.D. during his second missionary journey. He plants the church and stays 1 ½ years (see Acts 18).

  3. In the fall of 51 A.D., Paul leaves for Ephesus with Priscilla and Aquila. He soon returns to Antioch, but Priscilla & Aquila stay in Ephesus, where they train in ministry and send him to lead at Corinth.

  4. In 52A.D., Paul returns to Ephesus (third missionary journey) and stays two years. His first year there, he writes a letter to the Corinthians which we (see 1 Corinthians 5:9).

  5. In the Spring of 54AD, Paul learns there is much , and within the Corinthian church. He writes what we call 1 Corinthians in response.

  6. 55AD: In the Spring Paul writes a “ letter” to the Corinthians which is delivered by Titus. We do not have this letter either.

  7. Paul then sets sail for Macedonia. Later, Titus meets up with him there and reports that the Corinthians are finally getting themselves together. Paul then writes what we call 2 Corinthians, most likely in the fall of __55 A.D.

  8. Whether it was the third or fourth letter in total, 2 Corinthians was the letter.

  9. Paul visits Corinth one more time in the of 56-57 A.D. (see Acts 20).

Life Application: Our culture has a tendency to be very “me-first,” especially when things are really challenging economically, but we are called to live with . Not equal , but equal !


4. Authority (2 Corinthians 10-13)

Life Application: According to Jesus, leaders are called to be .
