Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV)
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Hebrews 1:3 (NIV)
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Ephesians 2:6 (NIV)
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus … .

Colossians 3:4 (NIV)
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.

I John 3:2-3 (NIV)
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Colossians 3:5-7 (NIV)

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

Colossians 3:8-11 (NIV)
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in the knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

John 11:44 (NIV)
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

List of Grave Clothes

  • Sins of immorality – impurity, lust, evil desires, greed (vs. 5)

  • Sins of hostility – anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language, lying (vs. 8-9)

  • Sins of prejudice – (vs. 11)

Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved … .

Colossians 3:12-14 (NIV)
… clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance with someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
