“Follow the way of love…”
Our love for Jesus and others should result in authentic worship.
Reset: Worship
We Are All Worshipers.
The question isn’t WHETHER we worship, but WHAT you will worship
God created us to worship
What is Worship?
Louie Giglio: “Worship is our response to what we value most”
TEHILLAH “the singing of halals”
HALLAL
“to be clear, to praise, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.”
YADAH
“the extended hand, to throw out the hand, therefore to worship with extended hand, to lift the hands.”
In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. —1 Corinthians 11:17 (NIV)
God commands us to worship
Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. —1 Chronicles 16:23
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Godʼs special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. —1 Peter 2:9
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. —1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
Others around us need it.
In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. 18 In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it. —1 Corinthians 11:17-18 (NIV)
So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? —1 Corinthians 14:23
But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you. —1 Corinthians 14:24-25 (ESV)
What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. —1 Corinthians 14:26 (NIV)
You need it
Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me. And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest; yes, I would wander far away; I would lodge in the wilderness;
Selah —Psalm 55:5-7I would hurry to find a shelter from the raging wind and tempest.” —Psalm 55:8
But I call to God, and the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice. —Psalm 55:16-17
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. —Psalm 55:22
Worship is powerful!
Our love for Jesus and others should result in authentic worship.
