1 Samuel 16:7 “The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
My Name Is Storm
a. You Can’t Depend On Human Wisdom
Acts 27:17-19 “They used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis Sands, they struck sail and so were driven. And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship. On the third day we threw the ship’s tackle overboard with our own hands.”
Acts 27:20 “Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”
Proverbs 21:30 “No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 3:19 “What this world considers to be wisdom is nonsense in God’s sight.”
b. You Can Depend On Godly Wisdom
Acts 27:21-25 “Paul stood in the midst of them and said, ‘Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.”
James 3:15, 17 “Jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and motivated by the devil. The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere.”
James 1:5 “If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him…”
c. You Need To Drop Some Anchors
Acts 4:29 “Then, fearing lest we should run aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern, and prayed for day to come.”
i. The Anchor Of Prayer
Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”
ii. The Anchor Of Fellowship
Hebrews 10:25 “Let us not neglect our church meetings, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of His coming back again is drawing near.”
iii. The Anchor Of Faithfulness
1 Corinthians 15:58 “Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
iv. The Anchor Of Hope
Ecclesiastes 9:4 “As long as we are alive, we still have hope, just as a live dog is better off than a dead lion.”
