The Renewal Process
Part of Ephesians

Title: The Renewal Process
Passage: Ephesians 4:17-32
Speaker: Ross Frisbie (Senior Minister)
Use the following questions based on today’s sermon as a starting point for spiritual discussions with your family or a small group of Christian friends this week.
Fellowship—Relationship with a Purpose
- What is something you have a hard time throwing out? Why? (Sentimental or practical? Realistic or a dream?)
Growth—Thinking About Spiritual Matters
- Read Ephesians 4:17-22. What was your life like before you became a Christian? With honesty, share the kind of things you pursued.
- How easy has it been to get rid of that old way of life? Does it stay dead, or do you find yourself returning to it?
- What are the qualities of the new nature we have in Christ (see 4:23-24)?
- Why is renewal tied so closely to your mind? What factors impact your thoughts throughout your day? What steps could you take to change the train of thoughts you typically entertain?
- To align your actions with your renewed mind, you have to change some habits. What current habits of yours contradict this renewal? What new habits might replace them? (For examples, see Eph 4:25-32)
- How long does it take to establish a new habit? Is there anyone who can help you with your new habits?
- Read Ephesians 4:30. Does the truth of being “sealed” by the Spirit impact your ability to develop these new habits? Explain your answer.
Prayer – Taking Your Thoughts to God
- Pray for your thoughts and actions this week to not grieve the Holy Spirit. Instead ask God to help your mind and body glorify Him.
- Ask for guidance as you clothe this “new” self with new habits, created in righteousness and holiness.
