Everyday Jesus Notes 1.9.22
January 9, 2022

Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.

• Monday: Read 2 Pet 2:16-2 which tells of the Holy Spirit overseeing the writing of Scripture. Read 2 Timothy 3:16 which identifies God as the source of all Scripture & the 5 benefits of Scripture. Read Heb 4:12-13 which explains the power of God’s Word to reveal truth. Meditate & pray using each of these verses. Thank God for the privilege to study and know of His word.
• Tuesday: Read Jeremiah 36:1-3, Psalms 1, 112:1, 119:35, 47, 92, 105*. After 23 yrs of Jeremiah speaking to Israel, He now told Jeremiah to write it down so they can hear of their disaster, turn from the evil way and be forgiven. Meditate (think deeply) on verse 3. Ask the Lord to pour more of His word into you, so you may grow in the way He desires.
• Wednesday: {Day of Fasting} Read Jeremiah 36:1-19 God’s word, like a mirror, reflects the truth of a person. When Baruch read the word in the temple, those that heard it were in fear v16. Today the word is so easy to access and we are all susceptible to taking God’s word for granted. Express your reverence to the Lord for the power of His Word.
• Thursday: Read Jeremiah 36:1-26 Instead of fearing the Lord, King Jehoiakim burned God’s Word. Had it not been for God’s protection Jeremiah & Baruch would have been killed. This is a reminder, God protects those faithful to His word and His plan. As you strive to consume God’s Word, ask Him to protect you from every enemy of His word.
• Friday: Read Jeremiah 36 Burning the first scroll was an attempt to stop God’s Word. After the first scroll was burned, God spoke a 2nd scroll to Jeremiah. At times it seems like the enemies of the gospel are winning. That thought can distracted us from our relationship with God. But as God promises to punish Jehoiakim let us all strive to keep our eyes on the Lord who protects those faithful to Him.
• Saturday: Read Jeremiah 36 Put yourself in Jeremiah’s place. Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to have your work burned? How would you react? We might take action or hold a grudge against the king, which may all seem justifiable. But there is something powerful that God just orders another scroll. Look at things that frustrate you and beg for a response from you and ask the Lord to show His power in those circumstances, instead of you acting “out”.
