SEEKING THE SECRET PLACE: CHRIST FORMED IN ME

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. —Matthew 6:33

Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken. —Isaiah 58:14

10  Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.
11  So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep.
12  Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13  And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.
14  Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
15  Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”
17  And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
18  Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.
19  And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously.
20  Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on,
21  so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God.
22  And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.” —Genesis 28:10 - 22

DIVINE INTERRUPTIONS FROM THE SECRET PLACE

1. Divine interruptions from The Secret Place bring God’s presence into reality.

16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”
17  And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” —Genesis 28:16 - 17

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? —1 Corinthians 3:16

20  Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation;
21  nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” —Luke 17:20 - 21

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. —John 14:26

2. Divine interruptions from The Secret Place bring a transformative position.

18  Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.
19  And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously. —Genesis 28:18 - 19

So you shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You shall anoint them, consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests. —Exodus 28:41

“And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations.” —Exodus 30:31

3. Divine interruptions from The Secret Place will connect God with your situation.

20  Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on,
21  so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God. —Genesis 28:20 - 21

23  Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
24  And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.
25  Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26  But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27  So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” —Matthew 8:23 - 27

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne
of grace, that we may obtain mercy and
find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:16

1  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2  through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
 3  And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4  and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5  Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. —Romans 5:1 - 5

4. The transformational grace of the divine interruption deserves nothing less than “all of me” worship.

And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You. —Genesis 28:22

Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat.
And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil
38  and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
 39  Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.” —Luke 7:36 - 39

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. —2 Corinthians 5:21
