Good things can become bad things when they “

” us…

“Everything is permissible for me” – but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me” – but I will not be mastered by anything. (1 Cor. 6:12)

Dependency limp: clinging to something that interferes with and “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.” (Jonah 2:8)

The principle of : my limp has a dependency upon “They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God…they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.” (Eph. 4:18-19)

The principle of : I turn to a “ ” to meet a need – “…he makes a god, his idol; he bows down to it and worships. He prays to it and says, “Save me; you are my god.” (Isaiah 44:17)

“Shall I bow down to a block of wood?… ‘Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?’” (Isaiah 44:19b, 20b)

A few Biblical principles for healing the limp…

“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” (Gal. 5:16)

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…” (Titus 2:11-12)

“Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.” (Psalm 119:133)

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6:2)

But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation. (Col. 1:22)
