Jesus is King
Part of Shall Know no End
October 9, 2022

We all Wear many hats in life.

Roles and titles shape us and make us who we are but none of our roles can fully define us.

Your roles shift based on the environment you are in.

We are part of a Kingdom.
Jesus is King.

Phil 3:18-21 ESV
18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. 20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.

The Kingdom of God is Designed to shape and affect every other aspect and facet of my life.

Isiah 9:7 ESV
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

The more We Understand, comprehend, and apprehend the Kingdom of God in our lives, the more we will grow in Love with the King of our lives.

John 18:36 ESV
*“My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” *

Without understanding how a Kingdom works, by nature we will try to Live in His Kingdom the way that we live and function in our democracy.

1- They have a King (Sovereign Authority).
Matthew 16:13-16 NIV
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Honor is bestowed to the King.

1 Tim 1:17 ESV- 17
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.[a] Amen.

2- They Rule a certain Way.

The words of the King become Law.

Psalm 119:5 ESV
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Democracy vs Theocracy

3- Kingdoms have a territory.

Psalms 103:19: ESV
The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

The kingdom of God, as Jesus spoke about it, was not limited to a physical city, country, or land mass . Rather, the kingdom of God was the dynamic reign of God over heaven and earth; all things visible and invisible.

4- Kingdoms are made up of Citizens

Practical ways to establish Jesus as King in your Life.

*(1) A change in one’s allegiance. *

Matthew 6:10 ESV
*Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven *

*(2) A change in one’s expectations. *

The world seems to grow farther away from God by the day. As a result, it’s easy to live for the here and now, as if this present life is all that matters.
Not everything is fulfilled completely, but it has been established and will last forever and that there is far more to life than what we see right now.

*(3) A change in one’s values. *

Our culture values achievement, success, independence, and image, but the values of the kingdom reflect what matters to the King.

*(4) A change in one’s mission. *

Jesus affects the outlook of a person’s life. But desires to bring kingdom values into their day-to-day lives. He gives His followers purpose and a mission to live and promote kingdom values in everyday life and work.
