Dreaming Big Dreams – Realigning Our Dreams

Are you ready to live out God’s dreams for your life?

Discuss

Do you have something in your house that you have put off fixing? What is it? Why do you keep putting it off?

Study

Nehemiah 1:1-11

What is the significance in that day that the wall was broken down and the gates burned with fire?

Have you ever mourned/fasted/prayed for days? Why or why not?

After weeping, what did Nehemiah do (vs.4b)? What can we learn about God from Nehemiah’s prayer(vs.5)? What can we learn about confessing our sins (vs. 6,7)?

Take a couple minutes to analyze Nehemiah’s prayer. What are the parts that make up this prayer? What can you learn from this prayer?

What’s Next

What are some of the things that break God’s heart today? Do those things break your heart? Why or why not?

Chad said, “The longer I ignore my brokenness, the more desensitized I become to it.” Do you agree? How have you seen this truth play out in your life?

What does it look like for us to realign our dreams with God’s plans?

Spend some time dreaming as a small group. What are some dreams that your group can do together for the kingdom in the next 52 days? What is one step that you can take this week towards making that dream a reality?

“Instead of just praying for God’s miracles, we should also pray for God-given opportunities.” As you finish your time together, pray for some God-given opportunities this week.

Prayer

God, give me an opportunity to further your kingdom this week. Break my heart for the things that break yours. Thank you for using me to impact the world for your glory!

“O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.”

–Nehemiah 1:11 | NIV84
