
Cuckoo or Christian?
1 John 2:18-23

1. The Appearance of Cuckoos is Telling. (vs. 18, 2 Tim 3:1)
2 Timothy 3:1, “But know this: Hard times will come in the last days.”
2. Cuckoo’s:
a.
John 13:10-11, ““One who has bathed,” Jesus told him, “doesn’t need to wash anything except his feet, but he is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.” For he knew who would betray him. This is why he said, “Not all of you are clean.””
John 13:18, 21, ““I’m not speaking about all of you; I know those I have chosen. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: The one who eats my bread has raised his heel against me…When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in his spirit and testified, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.””
b. Are
1 Corinthians 2:14, “But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.”
c. Are
2 Peter 2:1-2, “There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved ways, and the way of truth will be maligned because of them.”

b. Originate From
1 Thessalonians 4:9, “About brotherly love: You don’t need me to write you because you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.”
Romans 15:14, “My brothers and sisters, I myself am convinced about you that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.”
c. Know their
Romans 8:14-17, “For all those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.”
Hebrews 3:14, “For we have become participants in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start.”
