Genesis 46:1-27

46:8-26 | After listing Simeon’s first five sons, Scripture adds: and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. It is uncertain whether this marriage indicated a hardness of heart on Simeon’s part, or if Simeon’s Canaanite wife was a believer. The sons of Judah include the three that were born to his Canaanite wife, the daughter of Shuah, as well as the two children of Tamar. Judah was now a forgiven man, and his tribe would be a leader within the family.

46:29-30 | Upon the tender reunion of father and son, Israel (Jacob) was satisfied to die. Yet God blessed him in Goshen, and Jacob lived for 17 more years. When God fulfills a longing, people often gain a new zest for life and have a renewed vision for their future.
