The Last Word.
We all love getting the last word. However, in His Word, our Lord has the last words for us tonight.
One might say these two verses sum up the entire Bible.
Listen to these truths that we find here:
1. We find the certainty of His coming. This is a major theme throughout the Bible. We can classify them in two distinct groups. (Eve thought Cain was the literally answer to this prophesy. Genesis 4:1: Literally translated is “I have gotten a man even the Lord Jehovah.”)
a. Beginning in Genesis 3:15 and ending here.
1. Satan bruising His heel. This is where the enemy turned His own people against Him. Even today this still takes place in the lives of His own people.
2. The crushing of Satan’s head.
b. The Bible referrs to two distinct comings.
1. The Rapture (1 Thessalongians 5:1-11; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 and many other passages.)
2. The Sovvereign reign of Christ (Revelation 19-22)
2. The last words of man. This is a prayer. The first time man’s voice is heard, Genesis 3:10, and it was to express fear and shame. Here it is the sound of expectancy.
3. The benediction. The focus here is the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We will never be separated from our Redeemer, our Savior, our Lord. This also brings to mind His desire: 2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any shoudl perish but taht all should come to repentance."
Have you come yet? Now is the time.
