Welcome to the Mighty Men Ranger Station

One Step at a Time

This year, we are asking you to read four books, engage in calibration questions with God, meet with anyone who is attending the trip with you, and be present to God’s work in your story and life. We spent many hours working on this Mighty Men Adventure and chose every book, question, and calibration with great care and intention. You won’t engage in anything without a reason (even if we don’t explicitly state it ;).

But maybe you felt overwhelmed agreeing to the “Mighty Men Code” on our application (or agreeing to participate in all MM activities this year). “How am I supposed to do life AND read four books, engage in relationship God, and get my daily tasks done at work, home, etc.?” It’s okay to feel a bit overwhelmed. This process will take some geting used to. Walking in Sonship with God isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon. So, we implore you: don’t hyperfixate on the destination; just focus on the next step.

My family (Chris) is full of avid hikers. Over years of hiking, we’ve learned to keep an eye on the next step, instead of the distance between us and our destination. That doesn’t mean we don’t stop to take in the view, but too often when we find ourselves hyper fixating on the distance left. Frustration sets in, “How are we ever going to cover this distance! It’s too far!” Avid hikers will know what I’m talking about; that doesn’t get you anywhere.

Instead, we focus on the next step in front of us; at some point, we always look back and say, “Wow, we really did come a long way!” AND we avoid tripping on every stone, branch, and dip along the trail. The Mighty Men Adventure is no different. We need to focus on one step at a time and find our pace for the year. Even in walking there is a rhythm, Left, right, left, right, left.

Let’s spend a few minutes and calibrate to our Mighty Men rhythms.
