**We exchange independence for helpless dependence.
“Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it”” - Mark 10:15
Helpless dependence leads to simple obedience.

We exchange our Earthly position for Kingdom position.

Diakonos - Greek word of servant meaning one who executes the command of another.
Doulos - Greek word for slave meaning one who gives himself up to the will of another.
Characteristics of a Servant:
Servants don’t seek recognition.
Servants are aware of and meet the need before they are asked.
Servants are close to the master.
Christ in you, the hope of glory - Colossians 1:24-27
The King became the slave of all:
“For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” - Mark 10:45
Life Group Questions:
One of the overarching themes in this past weeks chapter is being totally dependent on Jesus and not letting other things get in the way of that. What in your life is keeping you from being dependent on Jesus? Is it money, feeling fulfilled by your position at your job, or your status in life, is it fear or anxiety?
Mark compares and contrasts the difference between the little children and Bartimaeus with the rich you man and the disciples. What are some other differences that you see in this text and how does it apply to your life?
Our world is in desperate need of the church being willing to serve it. What are the challenges that you find in serving other and what are the characteristics of a servant that you need to work on in your life?
