Romans (Part 41) - A Supernatural Feat

[Romans 15:1-7 ESV]
1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with
the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written,
“The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”
4 For whatever was written in former days was written
for our instruction, that through endurance and through
the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live
in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
6 that together you may with one voice
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you,
for the glory of God.

[Romans 15:1 ESV]
1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with
the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

[Romans 15:7 ESV]
7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you,
for the glory of God.

Unity amongst God’s people is of enormous importance.

[Psalm 133:1, 3 ESV]
1 … Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity! …
3 … For there the LORD has commanded the blessing,
life forevermore.

[John 17:20-23 ESV]
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

This is the will of God for you.
This is what pleases your Master.
This is what God blesses.

[Romans 14:1 ESV]
1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him,
but not to quarrel over opinions.

These Verses are calling us to a supernatural feat:

YOU MUST BEAR with others…

[Romans 15:1 ESV]
1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with
the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

[Romans 13:8 ESV]
8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other…

This call requires self-denial…
[Romans 15:1 ESV]
1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with
the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

[Romans 15:2 ESV]
2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

[1 Corinthians 9:19-23 ESV]
19 For though I am free from all,
I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.
20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews.
To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.
22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak.
I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.
23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel,
that I may share with them in its blessings.

[Galatians 1:10 ESV]
10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God?
Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man,
I would not be a servant of Christ.

But when it comes to non-essentials, that will not cause you to sin;
a person’s soul is more important than your preference.
What is eternal far outweighs what is temporal.

This call requires true hospitality…
[Romans 15:7 ESV]
7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you…

YOU MUST BEAR with others…

Because CHRIST endured for you…

[Romans 15:3 ESV]
3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written,
“The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”

[John 6:38 ESV]
38 For I have come down from heaven,
not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.
[2 Corinthians 8:9 ESV]
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor,
so that you by his poverty might become rich.

[Isaiah 53:4-6 ESV]
4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned–
every one–to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

CHRIST-ians

[Romans 8:29 ESV]
29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined
to be conformed to the image of his Son,
in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

YOU MUST BEAR with others…

Because CHRIST endured for you…

So that YOU tap into your SUPREME PURPOSE

[1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV]
31 So, whether you eat or drink,
or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

[Romans 11:36 ESV]
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be glory forever. Amen.

[John 17:24 ESV]
24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me,
may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

[Romans 15:5-7 ESV]
5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live
in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
6 that together you may with one voice glorify
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you,
for the glory of God.

YOU MUST BEAR with others…

Because CHRIST endured for you…

So that YOU tap into your SUPREME PURPOSE

Which is an impossibility for the NATURAL man.

[Romans 15:4 ESV]
4 For whatever was written in former days
was written for our instruction, that through endurance and
through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

[Romans 15:5 ESV]
5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,

YOU MUST BEAR with others…

Because CHRIST endured for you…

So that YOU tap into your SUPREME PURPOSE

Which is an impossibility for the NATURAL man.

God is calling you to a supernatural feat,
bearing with other Believers,
and if you will obey His Word,
He’ll resource you.

Who do you need to pray for?
