21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Day 20 | January 21st
And the effect of righteousness will be peace,
and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. —Isaiah 32:17
The Haserot Angel, created by Herman Matzen, is an amazing sculpture and grave marker located in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The sculptor presents the angel of death leaning on his extinguished flaming sword. When Jesus the King appears, death will be defeated and the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords will eternally reign in peace and quiet in perfect triumph forever.
The sculpture is hauntingly powerful, and compels one to imagine the time when the curse of sin and death will be no more. The consequence of sin will one day be completed. There will be a time when the Angel of Death will extinguish his flaming sword, and death will have been defeated forever. God will have the victory, and all creation will be as God intended.
God does even more than just defeat death and gives His family eternal life. God gives PEACE and quietness forever more. Take some time today to practice the spiritual disciplines of silence and solitude and bask in the goodness of our loving God.
