“The Lamb”

John 1:19-36
Series: He Loved Us First
Jesus Through the Eyes of John

“Look!” “Behold!” “Be Amazed!” The words from John 1:29 do amaze us. In a quick reading, we might miss the important happenings it declares. A scan of the material and we could overlook what this one sentence is telling us.
It is the story of Jesus’ life revealed at the beginning of His ministry, telling us the very purpose for His coming. There, in those words, we find three truths that are vital to His story and ours.

I – Jesus is

”the man who takes the place of the lamb.”

II – Jesus is

”the offended who provides the atonement for the offender.”

III – Jesus is

”the one man who by one deed on one day erase the many deeds done by many men in all the days of history.”

Memory Verse: “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’”
(John 1:29 NIV)
