Chris Seidman, Lead Minister, The Branch

2 Timothy 2:8-9 (NIV)
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.

2 Timothy 2:14, 16, 23 (NIV)
Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. Avoid godless chatter … . Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.

2 Timothy 1:9-10a (NIV)
He has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done but … because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus … .

2 Timothy 1:10 (NIV)
… but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Through The Gospel …

  • Jesus brought life to light.

John 1:4 (NIV)
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

John 8:12 (NIV)
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 10:10 (NIV)
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Flourish

Isaiah 9:7a (NIV)
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end … .

  • He destroyed death and brought immortality to light.

2 Timothy 1:10 (NIV)
… Christ Jesus … has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Hebrews 2:14-15 (NIV)
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil – and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Dallas Willard
The greatest issue facing the world today, with all of its heartbreaking needs, is whether those who are identified as Christians will become disciples – students, apprentices, practitioners – of Jesus Christ, steadily learning from him how to live the life of the kingdom of the heavens into every corner of human existence.
