On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. —John 7:37–39

Jesus invites people to have .

In the Greek there are two words that are typically translated life in the N.T.—one is

which mostly refers to that which is alive, property, possessions, or livelihood.

The other word is which often refers to living and points to the quality, substance, or span of life.

Jesus does not invite the people to have physical life, but meaningful, purposeful, life.
Why does Jesus invite people to have life?

1. Every person has a that must be – v. 37

People need a

with their Creator.

People need the that comes from being accepted by God.

2. Our thirst can only be

through faith in – vs.38-39
