Week 5 HPC @ Home Guide
Scripture: Acts 16:9-15
Takeaway: The power of conversion is still God’s building block to change the world one person at a time.
Take some time to share:
• One thing that you are thankful for this week.
• One thing you need.
• How can the group help?
Bible Discussion: Read Acts 16:9-15
• What about this passage stands out to you as you read?
• The events described in vv.13-15 don’t seem to answer the cry for help that Paul envisioned. Or do they?
• Why, in a book of big miracles, do we find the story of one woman coming to faith?
• How might the change experienced by Lydia impact her community?
Application:
The faithfulness of one person’s life changed, one faithful risk taken for God’s kingdom can be a tiny change that surprisingly shakes the foundations of entire communities. As we look at the big surprises God has brought into being in Acts and in our world today, we need to remember that changed hearts are major events and big victories as well.
• What small change in your life made a big impact?
• Because of Lydia’s change of heart, her whole household was baptized. When has someone had that kind of impact on your life? Have you ever been that person for someone else?
Sometime God works in BIG, unexpected ways, and other times he works in gentle whispers. The impact of God’s movement is not relative to the spectacle it creates. The impact of God’s movement IS relative to the change it leads to…no matter how small that change may seem.
