Reflections

  • We know from this lesson that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 Corinthians 4:18 tells us that the things which are invisible are the things that are eternal while the things we can see are temporal. Explain how the eternal nature of invisible things should affect the way we live our lives. Describe one change which you could make in your own life that would better reflect the eternal nature of invisible things.

  • Even though we are sanctified by faith in Jesus (Acts 26:18), many people do not fully understand what it means to be sanctified. Use a Bible dictionary or concordance to research the word sanctified. Express in your own words what it means to be sanctified and how the word is used in the Bible.

  • It does not take much reading in the Gospels to realize that faith moved Jesus. Even though the ministry of Jesus was focused on the lost sheep of Israel, a Canaanite woman was able to move Jesus to action through her faith (Matthew 15:21-28). Read the story and describe what the woman did to get the attention of Jesus. How can we imitate what this woman did in our approach to God?
