Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.
• Monday: Read Romans 14:1-12 & 1 Samuel 16:1-13[vv3, 7, 10, 13]. As you read these passages today, focus on how they clarify that the plan of the Lord is greater than people’s opinions or “scouting reports”. The Lord makes clear that his point and purpose is different than ours. As you meditate on these passages, pray for strength to surrender your opinions & perception of knowledge - to the Lord.
• Tuesday: Read Romans 14:1-12. 1 Cor 8:9-11 equates how people who are “weak” in the faith are treated with whether a person’s faith succeeds or is destroyed. In Romans 14:1-4 Paul teaches to welcome those weak in faith not to quarrel over opinions but because God has welcomed them. Contrary to an abundance of people supplied opinions, God alone holds people up and makes them stand. Today, ask the Lord to give strength to surrender to His plan to use you in the lives of those that He sends in & out of your life.
• Wednesday: {Day of Fasting} Read Romans 14:1-12,. There are differing views on alcohol, lottery, dancing, politics, etc…however the word explains that we have to stand on our convictions, before the Lord. Today, ask the Lord to give you clarity on your own convictions. Are the position & opinions held, held unto the Lord?
• Thursday: Read Romans 14:1-9, Rev 20:12. The point of Christ’s death & resurrected life after death was to be the Lord of the living & dead (v9). A really fascinating reminder that God has a plan for all that are His. Ask the Lord to deepen your understanding and trust of these passages, especially when dealing with people of “weak” faith in the Lord.
• Friday: Read Romans 14:1-12, Rom 12:1, 2 Cor 5:10, cf. Matthew 12:33-36, Matthew 16:24-27, 1 Peter 4:1-5. Paul asks 2 questions in v10. Why do you pass judgement & why despise other Christians. His point to both questions are that all who belong to Christ will stand before God’s judgement seat and give an account for their own life. It is a reminder that the role of the church is to encourage, love and support each other - not tear down. Ask the Lord to examine and show if/where this passage applies to your life. Lord, do I judge or hinder the spiritual growth of others?
• Saturday: Romans 14:12 Verse 12 is a major understanding of our faith! We each will give an account of our lives to God! That both instructs how we support others in the faith but also reminds of the care we must constantly give to our own live’s before the Lord. Today, read verse 12 many times and let it lead you into prayer.
