- Read Genesis 4:1-12. Why does family conflict hurt a mother’s heart so much? How have you experienced pain and sorrow from family conflict? How have you caused pain and sorrow in your family?
- Read Genesis 18:1-15; 20:1-7. How would you describe the difference between Sarah’s laughter in chapter 18 compared to chapter 20?
- How do you deal with doubts and disbelief? What circumstances in your life seem impossible for God to work out? (Mark 9:24)
- Read John 19:23-27. Imagine you are Mary, the mother of Jesus. What do you think the death of Jesus was like for her?
- What are some examples of personal loss in your life? How did you deal with the sorrow?
- What help do you find from James 1:2? What does the verse mean and how does it apply to your life? What is the reason for counting our trials as joy?
- Read Romans 5:1-5. How do these verses relate to hope and hopelessness? How do these verses help us with family conflict?
