Revolution - a sudden, radical, or complete change in the established order.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:1-10, NIV).

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5, NIV).

“Blessed”
• To be happy (Philippians 4:12-13).
• To be approved.
• To receive God’s favor (Psalm 23:6).

Meekness – “Used to the hand”

Meekness Is:

• Submitting to God’s Word.

Receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21, ESV)

“Whoever hears my words and puts them into practice is like a man who builds his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24, ESV).

• Submitting to God’s Will.

“Father, if it is possible, let this cup be taken from me. Nevertheless, not my will but yours be done” (Matthew 26:39).

• Submitting to God’s People.

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:21, ESV)

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5, NIV).

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in
the Lord will inherit the land. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. (Psalm 37:7-11, NIV).

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6, NIV).

As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. (Psalm 42:1-2, ESV)

I want to know him, and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings. (Philippians 3:10, NKJV)

1. Hunger is a sign of need

2. Hunger is a sign of life

To hunger after righteousness is a sign of spiritual life. Nobody who was spiritually dead ever did this… If you hunger and thirst after righteousness, you are spiritually alive…  When the Spirit of God has changed our nature, that new nature hungers and thirsts after righteousness. The old nature never did, never could, and never would do so. (Charles Spurgeon)

3. Hunger is a sign of health

 Appetite can be cultivated.

“Train yourself for godliness” (1 Timothy 4:7, ESV)

• Regular diet shapes appetite over time.
• Practice fasting from legitimate pleasures.

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)

He [Christ] died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. (2 Corinthians 5:15, ESV)

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. (1 Peter 2:24, ESV)

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21, ESV)

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6, NIV).

16  They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun. 17  For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:16-17, NLT)
