How would you describe biblical joy, distinguishing it from fun and happiness? How does joy involve our mind, will, emotions and body?
How does Peter begin this passage? And how does that opening orient us to living in joy?
In verses 3-5 what aspects of our amazing salvation does Peter describe? How do they help us rejoice even in suffering?
In verse six Peter says we suffer grief for “a little while.” How does the fact that our suffering is momentary help you?
In verses 6-7 what purposes does Peter give for our suffering? Read Romans 8:17; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and James 1:2-4. How do each of these passages amplify what Peter is teaching us?
