What is “the gospel of peace”?
Taking up the shield of faith:

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17

Jesus resisting temptation in Matthew 4; 4 times “It is written…”

I long to see you so that… you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. Romans 1:12

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Hebrews 12:2a
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3

Attacked by worries?
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-27
Attacked by repeated failure?
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
And I am confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
Attacked by temptation?
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Attacked by despair?
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. Isaiah 43:2a
Attacked by guilt?
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

1. Please read Ephesians 6:16. How do you struggle when it comes to faith? What part of faith comes easier for you?
2. Please read Psalm 3:3, 33:20 and 91:4. All these verses describe God as a shield. What does it mean to you that God is your shield? How does that help you when you struggle with faith?
3. Please read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. How do these verses encourage you today? Where in your life are you struggling to rest in the truth of these verses?
