
Sent To Be A Storyteller
“ 21 Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” —John 20:21
“‘ 28 Of all the commandments which is the most important?’ ‘ 29 The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: Here, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” —Mark 12:28-31
“ 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” —Ephesians 3:16-19
(1.) Everything starts with a story!
“ 34 Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, He never spoke to them without using such parables.” —Matthew 13:34
(2.) How has God’s story changed your story?
“ 28 The woman left her water jar beside the well and went back to the village and told everyone, ‘29 Come and meet the man who told me everything I ever did. Can this be the Messiah?’ 30 So they people came streaming from the village to see him.” —John 4:28-30
“ 8 Jesus told him, ‘Stand up, pick up your sleeping mat and walk.’ 9 Instantly the man was healed! He rolled up the mat and began walking.” —John 5:8-9
“ 25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” —John 21:25
(3.) Are you looking and listening for opportunities to share your story?
“ 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” —Colossians 4:5-6
“ 6 My job was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God, not we, who made it grow.” —1 Corinthians 3:6
(4.) Being sent means we must define and defeat our fears by living and sharing our story!
“ 14 You are the light of the world—like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. 15 Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand 16 and let it shine for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” —Matthew 5:14-16
