We are doing a float for the Louisville Christmas parade on December 10th. The parade this year is at night so it will be at 6:00 PM. The children’s church and nursery kids will be riding the float. We will be having a work day on Wednesday November 30th to start putting it together. We can also work on it anytime anyone is available. If you are interested in helping put it together plesae let Haleigh know or sign up via the app!

The Youth Christmas Party this year is going to be a Lock-In. It will be on December 16-17th! We are going to have games, an ugly christmas sweater decorating contest, Christmas movies and food and it’s going to be a fun time! Anyone who is in 6th through 12th grade is welcome to come! Even if you don’t come to youth on a regular basis or at all please feel free to come to this!

Supernatural Week 3: Angels

A lot of people get their information about angels from TVs and movies.

The angels are God’s servants. They are supernatural beings created by God and for God’s glory.

They are mentioned more than 300 times in scripture.
[Heb 13:2 ESV] 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

[Mat 25:40 ESV] 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Where did angels come from?
*Colossian 1:15-16* 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things were created through him and for him.
[Psa 148:2-6 ESV] 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3 Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created. 6 And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

How Many are there?

Angels are not to be worshiped.
*[Rev 22:8-9 ESV]* 8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9 but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

Angels are worshippers.

Angels are warriors.

Angels are messengers.

What do angels do?

Angels protect you from Danger
*[Psa 91:11-12 ESV]* 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
[Act 12:7-8, 11 ESV] 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands. 8 And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.” … 11 When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”

Angels Minister to you.
*[Heb 1:14 ESV]* 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
[Mat 4:11 ESV] 11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

[Luk 22:43 ESV] 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.
There are spiritual forces but we have spiritual resources.
