MIRACLES ARE MESSY

THE MIRACLE OF GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE MESSINESS OF OUR UNDERSTANDING

Walking in Step With The Spirit

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. —Galatians 5:25

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. —Galatians 5:25 (NIV)

To walk in the Spirit, I have to sow to the Spirit.

7  Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will
also reap.
8  For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
9  And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. —Galatians 6:7 - 9

To walk in the Spirit is to walk in His identity.

I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. —John 14:18

14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” —Romans 8:14 - 15

To walk in the Spirit I have to be in line with His Word.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness. —2 Timothy 3:16

To walk in the Spirit is to have access to a “now” Word from God.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. —John 14:26

1. To walk in step with the Spirit is to submit to God’s plan for every moment of your life.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. —Matthew 6:10

5  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. —Proverbs 3:5 - 6

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave Himself for me. —Galatians 2:20

2. To walk in step with the spirit is to know God is not afraid of your story.

1  Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
2  and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. —Acts 9:1 - 2

And they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. —Acts 7:58

Now Saul was consenting to his death.
At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. —Acts 8:1

As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. —Acts 8:3

3. To walk in step with the spirit is to be in Christ.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; —Philippians 1:6

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. —Philippians 3:13

4. To be in step with the Spirit is to abide.

1  “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3  You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4  Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. —John 15:1 - 5

9  “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
10  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in
His love.
11  “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. —John 15:9 - 11

5. To walk in step with the Spirit is to let go and take hold.

28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29  Take My yoke upon you and learn from
Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
30  For My yoke is easy and My burden
is light.” —Matthew 11:28 - 30
