“Who is Jesus?”

servant

Matthew 20:28 | NIV84 “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:26 | NIV84 “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.”

Greatness comes through service.

In Jesus’ Kingdom, you descend into greatness.

Luke 22:24 | NLV They started to argue among themselves about who was thought to be the greatest.

John 13:4-5 | NIV84 So he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

John 13:6-8 | NIV84 “He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, ‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.’ ‘No,’ said Peter, ‘you shall never wash my feet.’”

John 13:8 | NIV84 Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

My life is defined by the needs of others.

John 13:14-15 | NIV84 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

In Jesus’ Kingdom, greatness doesn’t come by stepping on people but by serving people.

Luke 9:23-24 | NIV84 “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”

Who are you serving?

John 13:3-4 | NLT Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist…

Only when we die to “self” will we really live.

Only when we die to “self” will we be able to give life away.
