Lift Up Your Eyes

Making Room For Divine Appointments
Sunday 8.13.23

  • Explore God. September 24-November 12.

  • New Life Mission statement: We are a community of believers committed to the Great

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
3 Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, —Isaiah 2:2-3

  • This is a prophecy of a great of believers from every nation working together to reach every nation with the love of Jesus!

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, —Matthew 28:19

Two types of evangelism/faith conversations:
a) Go and tell.
b)

and see.

“But He needed to go through Samaria.” —John 4:4

25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”
26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
27 And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?” —John 4:25-27

28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him. —John 4:28-42

  • In this conversation, he was leading the disciples to live with His perspective - to see Kingdom purpose in moments.

31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”
33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.” —John 4:31-38

Lift Up Your Eyes

What does this statement mean of for us?

a)

your perspective.
b) Become with what the Lord is doing RIGHT NOW.
c) up the eyes of your heart, your spiritual eyes.

  • Jesus called the disciples to learn to make for the God-moments in their lives.

Making Room For Divine Appointments

1. Be open to the Lord’s leading and willing to make .

A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. —Proverbs 16:9

2. Realize that divine appointments aren’t always convenient.

3. Make room for and connection.

4. Make room by giving yourself more time to do things when you are out and about.

5. Make room for the Holy Spirit to enter the conversation and turn it into a conversation. This won’t happen each time, but many times it will.

6. Make room by looking for opportunities to be an encouragement and a blessing.

7. Make room through . Prayer orients our hearts towards the Father’s will.
