Act 24:24 - A few days later Felix came back with his wife, Drusilla, who was Jewish. Sending for Paul, they listened as he told them about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 As he reasoned with them about righteousness and self-control and the coming day of judgment, Felix became frightened. “Go away for now,” he replied. “When it is more convenient, I’ll call for you again.” 26 He also hoped that Paul would bribe him, so he sent for him quite often and talked with him. 27 After two years went by in this way, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And because Felix wanted to gain favor with the Jewish people, he left Paul in prison.

“We make our decisions, and then our decisions turn around and make us.” —F. W. Boreham, a great Australian preacher

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision” —Joel 3:14

“Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” —2 Corinthians 6:2

“There is never a better time to turn from sin and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior than the present moment. Make sure that you are not like Felix. Come to Jesus while there is still time, and help others to do the same.” —James Montgomery Boice, a great American pastor

John 8:21 - Later Jesus said to them again, “I am going away. You will search for me but will die in your sin. You cannot come where I am going.” … 23 Jesus continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not. 24 That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.”

What is stopping me from giving my life to Christ today?

BIBLE STUDY QUESTIONS

1) Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, what blessed you the most?

2) If you want to give a person the good news, what kind of person do you tend to look for? What kinds of people might you bypass because they intimidate you?

3) If a person asked you how to become a Christian, how would you respond?

4) Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem for Passover. This religious festival was obligatory for all men within traveling distance, and many came from abroad. In Jerusalem visitors camped out in tiny makeshift tents on streets and squares and rooftops. The city would swell to several times its size—and this was no ordinary year. People thought the kingdom of God would appear at once (Luke 19:11)! Instead of expecting the Messiah to free them from sin, they expected that the Messiah would free them from Rome and make the Jews rich and politically powerful. Read Luke 19:1–11.

5) From verses 1–4 find all the facts you can about Zacchaeus.

6) What stereotypes of Jesus might your nonbelieving friends have?

7) Luke 19:10 shows that Jesus is dramatizing the story He had told to others as recorded in Luke 15:4–6. Now in Luke 19 the Shepherd has left his ninety-nine safe sheep to search for one lost sheep. In our day Jesus still lovingly searches for “lost” people. What do you suppose are some ways He lets them know He is seeking them?

8) Pray for one another, your pastors and spiritual leaders, and for the evangelistic efforts of Huntington Beach Church. Ask Jesus to help you share the love the Christ with someone this week.
