INTRODUCTION

In this message series, we are talking about the onslaught of information, stimulus, and noise demanding our attention. John Eldridge wrote “We’ve been sucked into a pace of life nobody’s enjoying.” But there’s Hope. Jesus has also has influence and a voice. He is quiet, persistent, and life-giving. Each week, we will courageously evaluate the current status of our inner lives. The world beckons. Jesus beckons as well. Last week we contemplated the quality of our union either God. This week, Pastor Cory is talking about three specific ways Jesus is drawing us to Himself.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. (No wrong answer to this) How and when have you experienced God that was most meaningful, restful and life-giving? (If you don’t have an answer to this do NOT be discouraged because that can change…if you want it to).
  2. Prayer can be defined in many ways. Inviting Jesus into your present reality is a great place to start a genuine, authentic conversation. How would you define your prayer life? What would you like it to develop into? What will you have to intentionally ignore in order to take some time to listen to God? (Suggestion- take red stop lights to listen to God)
  3. You may have read the Bible before and not understood or retained anything from what you just read. What purpose do you want your time in the Bible to accomplish?

MOVING FORWARD

This week ask God to speak to you while you read the Bible. Read through slowly and stop when you feel God showing you something (Warning- this may be mid verse, mid chapter, or at anytime). Ponder what He has shown you. John Eldridge says in his book that“Our souls are exquisite vessels created by God for Him to saturate.” God will not force His way in. He awaits our invitation AND our willingness to give Him time.

CHANGING YOUR MIND

John 7:38
“Rivers of living waters will flow from within them.”
