No where to hide
Liam Neeson?

Taken
Plot is cathartic
Amos
We are both the victim and the kidnapper

Amos
Declaration is part persuasion
In this sin, they aren’t listening - vs. 10
Reminding them of God’s Sovereignty - vs. 5-6

Again and again, Amos has laid out what happens when we live against God’s design
Blessings and curses
God is the origin of life!
When we go with the arc of redemption, we live
When we go against the arc, we enter the whirlwind

Idolatry
Raises up a thing… But also lowers it
Statue… Built but can be moved
We too
Aspect raised up…. But we are reduced

We either go with God toward flourishing
Or against him
Idolatry, Immorality, Injustice

Idolatry’s end is clear
There’s no place where it will finally work

We often just try harder
Amos is calling them to see the reality of things and stop

They were in denial
Literally…vs. 5

All of creation will be redeemed
There will be no aspect that will not be sorted out

Even tho, this generation
Caused so much harm
Others - Injustce
Themselves - immorality
Greed, missed out on gratitude
Sexual immorality, missed out on God’s goodess
Love of lies, lost authenticity and gained only the facade

Even through all that
God will still restore his people - vs. 11-15
