Acts 1:4-8
4 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Sermon Recap
Spend a few minutes reading Acts 1:4-8 and recapping the sermon.
- The Big Idea in this week’s message is: Jesus makes disciples Spirit-empowered witnesses to his incarnation, ministry, death + resurrection, Ascencion, present rule as King, and his coming Kingdom.
- Witnesses are called by Jesus to verbally proclaim and demonstrate the good news about him and his Kingdom.
- Witnesses are effective because they are empowered by the Spirit of God.
- Witnesses can’t help talking about Jesus and their life with him.
Sermon Discussion Direction:
Spend some time praying together. Consider reading through Peter’s paradigmatic gospel presentation in Acts 2:14-41 as the content of the gospel message. Then reflect on your personal experience of the gospel in your life with Jesus.
- Who told you about Jesus?
- What made their witnesses compelling to you?
- What is the content of your witness at home, in your neighborhood, at work, and in your spheres of influence?
- How is that content communicated?
- Consider ending your time together in prayer for boldness, confidence in God’s empowering spirit, and eyes to see the opportunities to share your Jesus stories with others.
