THE GREAT SUSTAINER

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. —Psalms 55:22

GOD WILL SUSTAIN YOU IN YOUR SEASON OF DESPERATION

1  A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”
2  So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
3  Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.
4  And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
5  So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out.
6  Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.
7  Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” —2 Kings 4:1 - 7

1. God desires that you come out of your season of desperation with a personal faith placed solely in Him.

—2 Kings 4:4 - 6

3  But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4  that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. —Matthew 6:3 - 4

But you, when you pray, go into your room,
and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. —Matthew 6:6

17  But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
18  so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. —Matthew 6:17 - 18

21  Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea.
22  And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet
23  and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.”
24  So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him. —Mark 5:21 - 24

2. God’s “great sustainment” is always more than enough and very rarely comes the way the think.

6  Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased
7  Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” —2 Kings 4:6 - 7

5  “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
6  So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
7  They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.
8  And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9  Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!” —Matthew 21:5 - 9

7  Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it.
8  And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9  Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
10  Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” —Mark 11:7 - 10

36  And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.
37  Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,
38  saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39  And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
40  But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” —Luke 19:36 - 40

12  The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13  took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!”
14  Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:
15  “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.” —John 12:12 - 15

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look,
the world has gone after Him!” —John 12:19

Hosanna defined:

Save us

Salvation is here

20  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21  to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. —Ephesians 3:20 - 21

20  Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,
21  to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen. —Ephesians 3:20 - 21 AMP

For indeed Christ died for sins once for all, the Just and Righteous for the unjust and unrighteous [the Innocent for the guilty] so that He might bring us to God,
having been put to death in the flesh,
but made alive in the Spirit. —1 Peter 3:18 AMP

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin
for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. —2 Corinthians 5:21
