Worship = Worth-ship

The Bible gives many, many examples of worship:

Exodus 20:2-5, Exodus 33-34, 1 Kings 9:6, Isaiah 1, Matthew 2:11, Luke 5:8, Matthew 28:9

Worship is always a

.

worships someone or something.

Worship

you giving up your life.

Worship is

an event and a lifestyle.

What is Jesus

to you?

SMALL GROUP GUIDE

Welcome
Weekly Vision Casting  Let’s celebrate some “Small Group wins” over the past year. If a disciple is someone who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and living on Mission with Jesus (Matt 4:19), how are we seeing that happen in our group or in one another’s lives?

SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP QUESTION
What is the hardest personality type for you to connect with? What is the easiest?

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
We are designed by a relational God for connection (Genesis 1:26-27). But the sin in our world and lives wreaks havoc with our relationships/connections.
1. Make some observations about the relational disconnection traits noted here: Hiding, blaming, yelling, running, dismissing, avoiding conflict, criticizing, holding onto past hurts, arguing, attacking, demanding
2. How do traits like these damage connection?
3. Make some observations about the relational connection traits noted here: Listening, being present, being interested, being curious, giving time, having no agenda, opening up my heart, yielding, talking less (verbal), talking more
4. How do traits like these restore and build connection?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
Take a look at Colossians 3:12-15, one of the many passages that call us to connection.
5. What does it look like to practice and embrace the traits Paul lists in these four verses?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
In the sermon there were three phrases mentioned as to how we respond to connection: I’m hungry for Christlike connection, I’m not aware I’m designed for it, I don’t want it.
6. How do these three statements play out in your life right now?
