Acts 1:4-5, 8
4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”…
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
MAIN IDEA: To live like Jesus is to live a
1.Jesus was
The Holy Spirit brings forth life.
Mary birthed something in her life that she could not have birthed without the Holy Spirit. In my life and your life, with the Holy Spirit, things can be birthed that would not come forth without the help of the Holy Spirit.
PROBLEM: Without the Holy Spirit there is no Spirit-filled life.
SOLUTION: The HOLY SPIRIT is necessary for SPIRIT-FILLED LIVING.
2.Jesus was
When the Holy Spirit came upon/baptized Jesus, he was affirmed in his identity. In my life and your life, we find out who we are, and what God has said about us and our calling as we are baptized/filled by the Holy Spirit.
PROBLEM: Without the Holy Spirit’s filling we are ignorant of our identity and calling.
SOLUTION: SPIRIT-FILLED LIVING gives insight into identity and calling.
3.Jesus was
You will always be led by what you are full of.
PROBLEM: If we are filled with the flesh (sin nature) we can not be led by the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:16-21 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
SOLUTION: SPIRIT-FILLED LIVING leads us into our destiny.
4.Jesus was
Your gift will make you impressive but the anointing of the Holy Spirit will make you impactful. When you work your gift, you work. But when the anointing of the Holy Spirit is working in you, God works.
PROBLEM: We settle for impressive when the Holy Spirit offers impactful.
SOLUTION: SPIRIT-FILLED LIVING is more than impressive, it’s impactful.
5.Jesus was
The Holy Spirit didn’t just raise Jesus from the dead but the Holy Spirit will help you to recover from what others died from.
SOLUTION: SPIRIT-FILLED LIVING raises the the things that have died and recovers what has been lost.
In conclusion, If Jesus was BORN of the Holy Spirit, BAPTIZED in the Holy Spirit, LED by the Holy Spirit, ANOINTED by the Holy Spirit, and RESURRECTED by the Holy Spirit how much more do those who are wanting to live like Jesus need the Holy Spirit? The truth is, if we are not filled with the Holy Spirit we can not live like Jesus.
