Doubt

Lets talk about handling doubt in our walk with Jesus.

Be ready to live with mystery.

Deuteronomy 29.29
29 The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Go beyond wishful thinking.

Jeremiah 29.13-14
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

Doubt your doubts.

Why give your doubt a courtesy you don’t give your faith? Is your doubt so moving that it can’t be questioned?

Move from behavior modification to inner transformation.

Romans 12.1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Surround yourself with people who further along in their faith.

Proverbs 12.26
26 The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Sometimes Jesus will reveal himself in our doubt.

John 20.24-29
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Many times we don’t understand!

Ecclesiastes 11.5-6
5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.

In the end He is always with us!

Hebrews 13 he will never leave us or forsake us.

The Greek word for leave is “aniémi” (a-nee-amee) this word means, to send back, let go, relax, loosen, give up, or desist from.
The word for forsake is egkataleipó (eng-kata-lapo) and it means, to leave behind, to abandon, or to desert.
When you really understand those two words you will see why you should be encouraged that God will never leave you or forsake you.

When I begin to think of who God is and His character, one of the most endearing parts of God’s character is His faithfulness.
