Going Deeper

Day 1
Sermon Reflection: A blessed life stems from fearing and following God.

Question: In what ways can a person’s life practically demonstrate a reverential fear of God?

Study Text: Ecclesiastes 12:13; Proverbs 9:10

Day 2
Sermon Reflection: God’s blessings are free, but not without conditions!

Question: Identify, referring to scripture, some of the rewards God promises in His Word to the person who lives according to His principles.

Study Text: Psalm 128:1; John 14:21-24

Day 3
Sermon Reflection: God has given men, in general, and particularly fathers, the responsibility for being Godly examples to their wives and children. The impact of this example also extends beyond our homes.

Question: As you reflect on your own home growing up, how did you see this principle lived out? Or what consequences did you see for a failure to live out this principle?

Study Text: Psalm 128:3-4; Ephesians 5:25; Ephesians 6:4

Day 4
Sermon Reflection: Most of us work for a living and rightly expect payment for our labour. Similarly, the person who plants crops, fruit trees, or a garden expects to see the harvest of what they have grown.

Question: Do you think what you are planting is good enough for your desired harvest? If not, what do you need to do differently?

Study Text: Deuteronomy 28:33; Zechariah 8:10

Day 5)
Sermon Reflection: The preacher quoted a statement he heard some time ago: “It is entirely impossible for one generation to go astray and the previous generation not be at fault!”

Question: The preacher is suggesting that your actions as an individual can affect the nation. Show two instances in the Bible where this has occurred, either with positive or negative
outcomes.

Study Text: Psalm 78:1-4

Overarching Questioins

What changes can you begin to make in your personal life, and in your interactions with your family, that can redound to positive effects for the nation and for future generations?

Sermon Main Points

To Build A Godly Nation We Must:
• Watch how and whre we walk
• Watch what we are planting
• Watch what we cultivate

Sermon Highlights

The societal decay we see in our country, including murder, violence, corruption, excessively high cost of living, injustice, welcoming and embracing godless ideologies, can cause one to despair. Still, this Psalm teaches that the state’s welfare depends upon virtuous family life, which must be founded upon active Godly principles.

Sermon Reflection

Though Psalm 128 may focus on the responsibilities of men toward God, their wives, and children, the scripture passage is relevant to all of us as believers. We all have persons under our physical and spiritual influence and should consider the positive changes we would like to see in them and our role in cultivating those changes.
